Business Plan Competition
The North Bay iHub Held the Second Annual Business Plan Competition in 2012
Previously known as “The Seed Round”, the Business Plan Competition is the only event of its kind in the North Bay. This annual competition is a chance for local entrepreneurs to create a business plan and investor pitch based on training and feedback from mentors and judges. The event will provide the participants with the exposure and recognition that can help their business get funded and may win a number of valuable prizes.
If you have a business idea, we want you to be a part of this event! By participating in the competition, you will:
- Learn how to create a business plan – you will be invited to attend two exclusive workshop sessions in which you will begin to sketch out and critique your plan; you will receive direct feedback from mentors and judges, including guidance on improving your plan and making an effective investor pitch.
- Network with fellow entrepreneurs and investors – both the workshop sessions and showcase event on June 1 will present opportunities to meet new and seasoned entrepreneurs, plus angel and VC investors.
- Test your ideas – your business plan will be judged by panels of investors, experienced entrepreneurs and educators. Success in the competition is a good indicator of the plan’s viability and a great way to get noticed.
- Win prizes!

We hope you'll join us at the conclusion of the competition at the Innovation Showcase, where four finalists will make public presentations and the audience will select the best pitch via Mobile Text Voting, followed by presentation of awards. The business plan competition is co-produced by Sonoma State University School of Business and Economics and SMBC, in partnership with our Academic and Program Partners.
